Sexual Assault Incident Involving Juvenile Victim

On April 17, 2024, the Statesville Police Department responded to a report of a sexual assault that occurred on Mooring Drive in Statesville. It was reported that Yulian Cardona-Ibarra, 34, of Statesville, sexually assaulted a juvenile between February 2021 and February 2023.

Following the initial report, the juvenile was interviewed at the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center in Statesville. During the interview, the juvenile disclosed multiple counts of sexual abuse.

As a result of the investigation, Yulian Cardona-Ibarra has been charged with 8 counts of Statutory Rape of a Child and 1 count of Indecent Liberties with a Child.

On April 23, 2024, the Statesville Police Department arrested Yulian Cardona-Ibarra. He has been issued a $200,000 secure bond.
