Did you know that "when children have a home library, as little as 20 books of their own, they achieve 3 more years of schooling than children who don't have any books at home"??

"The WORLD belongs to those who read!" If you’re anything like the teachers and staff here at American Renaissance School, you’re always looking for ways to help your students and children read more, and more, and MORE. There’s no such thing as too many books, are we right? We found these interesting facts about children reading:

1. Reading reduces stress by 68 percent.

2. Owning your own books maters. A lot.
*When children have a home library, as little as 20 books of their own, they achieve 3 more years of schooling than children who don't have any books at home.

3. It doesn't take much to read a lot of words.
*Read 20 minutes a day and you'll read 1,800,000 words per year.

4. And all that reading pays off.
*Children who read 1,000,000 words a year are in the top 2% of reading achievement.

5. Reading is the fastest way to build vocabulary.
*Children learn 4,000 to 12,000 words per year through reading.

6. Classroom libraries rule!
*Kids in classrooms without classroom libraries read 50% less than kids with classroom libraries.

7. Every book counts.
*If you read just one book a day to your child, they will have read 1825 books by their 5th birthday.
