BAND
Band students explore the fundamentals of music through instrumental instruction and a variety of band repertoire suitable for beginners in the 6th grade, and intermediate material in the 7th and 8th grade bands.  Students learn to read music, evaluate musical performances, and study the role of music as it relates to history and culture. Students are expected to practice and are encouraged to participate in district and state festivals. The required book for 6th grade band is "Measures of Success" Book 1 for your instrument. All other music will be provided. Weekly use of Smartmusic is required. 

CHORUS
In chorus classes, students explore the fundamentals of music through a variety of
choral repertoire suitable for middle school voices.  Basic music theory, reading music, evaluating musical performances, and the study of music in relation to history and culture are included in the 6th grade chorus, a mixed chorus, and an advanced chorus. Students are expected to practice and are encouraged to participate in local and state festivals. Weekly use of Smartmusic is required.
