Welcome to Art with Mrs. Bell

The Art curriculum is centered on the teaching of the Elements of Art (line, shape, form, texture, value, space and color) as well as the Principles of Design (balance, pattern, rhythm, variety, emphasis, contrast and unity). Students learn a variety of techniques using different media throughout the year, incorporating these elements and principles.

By the end of the eighth grade, students will be able to effectively use all the Principles of Design to produce a work of art that is “pleasing to the eye”. They will also know how to analyze a work of art.

Upon graduating from the eighth grade, students will have been exposed to the History of Art starting with the Prehistoric Age through the 21st Century.

We are very fortunate to have access to a lot of different materials and equipment, such as a kiln, potter’s wheel and slab roller. In April of each year, our eighth graders show off their talents by auctioning off a canvas acrylic painting as well as a pottery piece during our school-wide talent show and dinner. All proceeds go towards our yearly ARMS scholarship fund.

Art Office Hours: Tuesdays 3:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.

Please send a note or email letting me know that your child is staying with me.
